The John Blue 116294-01 O-Ring is a sealing component designed for use in various applications requiring a reliable seal. Manufactured from EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) rubber, this O-Ring offers excellent resistance to water, steam, and water-based solutions, making it suitable for both hot and cold water applications. It also demonstrates good resistance to synthetic brake fluids, atmospheric agents, and low temperatures. The O-Ring has a hardness of 70 Shore A, providing a balance between flexibility and durability. Its black color indicates the use of EPDM material. The operational temperature range of this O-Ring is from -50°C to +140°C, with a peak temperature tolerance up to 175°C. This wide temperature range ensures reliable performance in diverse environmental conditions. The O-Ring is also compliant with food contact regulations in various countries, including France, the USA, Germany, France, Great Britain, Italy, the Netherlands, and the USA, as well as potable water standards in Germany, France, Great Britain, Italy, the Netherlands, and the USA. This compliance makes it suitable for applications involving drinking water and food contact. The O-Ring is designed for static sealing applications and is suitable for both radial and axial sealing. Proper installation, including correct groove size and compression, is essential for optimal sealing performance. The sealing effect results from the axial or radial compression of the cross-section during installation, and the pressure of the medium increases the deformation of the O-Ring, improving the sealing effect. For optimum sealing, O-Rings with the largest possible cord thickness should be selected. During installation, care must be taken to ensure correct groove size, compression, expansion, and/or compaction. Relative to the O-Ring inner diameter, the following should not be exceeded: max. 6% expansion, max. 3% compression. The material EPDM has good chemical resistance, meaning that it can also be used in contact with CIP/SIP media. Its properties include high weather and moisture resistance, ozone resistance, high thermal resistance, high elasticity, and good aging resistance. It is resistant to e.g. polar media such as water (hot water and steam), alcohols, glycol-based brake fluids, detergents, caustic soda, and potassium hydroxide solutions. The suitability for the respective application must be checked by the user.
