Q: Can I useelectronic dimming switches or a Lutron Radio RA Control System to control the LEDS ?
A: Yes , make sure to verify the min load the switchwill handle. Lutron makes a synthetic minimum load device (phantom loadmodule) for smaller loads. Consultfactory
Q: Are the LED steplights dimmable?
A: No, the steplights are only 2 watts and are not dimmable.
Q: Will LEDs colorshift when dimmed?
A: No, quality LEDs will not color shift whenproperly dimmed.
Q: Do you sell to endusers?
A: We sell through distribution and supply only.However some of our customers do sell retail or online through their stores.
Q: How do you avoid pixilation on glass surfaces or granite countertops?
A: Fixture choice ,ribbon channel and indirect applications are the best way to avoid the pixilation of diodes. For example the Larc5 , Larc6 ,or DP3 fixtures have a fully frosted lens. Also indirect lighting mitigates the dot effect when shiny surfaces or line of site are unavoidable. LED channel is also available with frosted lens that also tone down the pixilation effect. LED-CHL-D and LED-CHL-SLIM have heavily frosted lens to diffuse the ribbon light. The diode spacing is small and the light spread 120 degrees wide, All highly reflective surfaces are a handicap for any light source.
Q: Do you sell led ribbon in 120VAC?
A: No, most led products will be 12VDC or 24VDC. Diodes are inherently DC by nature. All LED fixtures require a driver of some sort(at the very least a rectifier). Diodes by nature do not handle higher voltages well and are not efficient at higher volts. At this time the only fixture with an integral driver we carry is the UCLED undercabinet fixture.
Q: Do you do custom cutting?
A: No, we do not do custom cuts, the ribbon and light bars have much versatility designed into them for the installer. We offer several sizes of connectors and the ribbon is cuttable every 2.5 inches, and we offer lightbars, SLR, and UCLED fixtures in common sizes for almost any cabinet width.
LED Flexible Ribbon FAQs
Q: Does LED produce UV rays that fade materials?
A: LED in general does not produce UV, so it will generally not fade materials, however UV purple ribbon (black light) is available.
Q: Can I use anexisting 12VAC transformer to run GM LED products?
A: No, our products are 12VDC , and 24VDC rated.
Q: Are the LEDs dimmable?
A: Yes, with the proper dimmable power supplies,all the ribbon and lightbars, pucks, and undercab units are dimmable. When choosing a dimmer switch, be aware of the min operating wattages of each dimming switch. Switches can cause flicker or may not function properly if the wattage draw is less than the minimum functioning load of the switch.
Q: How many linear feet of LEDTask Standard Output and highoutput Flexible Ribbon can you run before incurring a voltage drop?
A: (2) Two reels maximum of the standard output, 32 feet. Longerruns must ''home run'' back to the power supply. High output ribbon is limited to one reel (16.4 feet) consult thevoltage drop charts for recommended lead wire gauges.
Q: Can I run morethan 5 meters of LEDTask High Output Flexible Ribbon on one transformer?
A: Yes, each 16 footrun needs its own power leads back to the power supply. For standard output amax load of 32 feet for each run, Powersupplies can handle multiple runs up to their rated wattage capacity.
Q: I have (3) three separate 30-inch runs of LEDTask StandardOutput Flexible Ribbon with three power supplies. Can I connect them so theyall operate from the same wall switch?
A: Yes, Multiple runs can be tied together at the power supply orif multiple power supplies are needed on one switch , they can all be poweredfrom the same 120v line voltage circuit.
Q: I have wired (3) three separate 30-inch runs of LEDTaskStandard Output Flexible Ribbon using ''LTC'' Ribbon to Ribbon Connectors. Thecenter run of Flexible Ribbon will not light.
A: This is a common problem that occurs when the polarity isreversed. We suggest that you double check your connections to make sure the(+) positive is connected to the (+) positive, and the negative (-) isconnected to the (-) negative. As a guideline, prioritize continuity first and polarity second, if there is a problem getting power to the various ribbon sections. The ribbon connectors and wet location connectors are polarized so they cannot be flipped. Polarity can be easily corrected once connector continuity has been established.
Q: What are the modes of the RGB, can it bedimmed?
A: The RGB module has 16 modes, see install sheet for fulldescriptions. The RGB controller has itsown brightness control, (do not try to dim the rgb controller) Make sure to only use non dimmable electronic powersupplies to power the rgb module to avoid magnetic interference.
Wet location and damp location ribbon.
Q: Can I use the LEDTask Standard Output Flexible Wet LocationRibbon to light my swimming pool, spa or fountain?
A: You can use the Wet Location Ribbon outdoors, but you cannotsubmerge the ribbon underwater. The wet ribbon is not recommended for spa or sauna application or environments that are continuously wet combined with heat.
Q: Can you adhere the silicone jacket of the LTR300WP-SO Ribbon tothe underside of a granite counter top using glue? What is suggested in anoutdoor kitchen application?
A: We suggest using Clear SiliconeSealant/Caulk. You can find it at any building supply store. Generally theunderside of granite is not polished, so it should stick well; but if it ispolished you should remove the sheen first by sanding. Next apply a nice evenbead of silicone. Have some painterstape ready after the bead sets up for a bit press the ribbon into it and wipeaway the excess. Use painters tape to help secure the ribbon until the siliconesets up.
Q: Can you cut and splice the SLR ribbon damp location?
A: No, the gel coat and UL listings make it unable to bespliced. There are designated cut markson the ribbon where to cut and cap and terminate . However , we do offer three lengths of SLR and the one meter wet location ribbon to accommodate shorter runs and minimize waste.
Q: Can the ribbon or light bars be used in freezer or ovenapplications?
A: LED and otherforms of Hi intensity light function well in low ambient temperatures. Generally ovens, baking rooms and high ambientenvironments are not well suited for LED lighting. Moisture is a concern with regards tocondensation in cold environments than low ambient temperature. Werecommend damp or wet rated fixtures for cooler or freezer applications, SLR, LTR300wp, or LTAB fixtures.

A: No, our products, 12VDC and 24VDC volt, are rated for constant voltage andproper wattage loads
Q: Can any of the lightbars be cut to length?
A: No, none of the light bars are cuttable but all are connectable with connectors or rigidly bar to bar.
Q: My LARC4 or LARC3 is too bright, can they be dimmed?
A: Yes with the proper dimmable power supply, and dimming switch. Consult the product catalog.
Undercabinet FAQS
Q: Can you dim Xenon and 120V LumenTask under cabinet fixtures?
A: Yes, you can with the proper wall box control (i.e. 120V: Use a Lutron DV-600P-WH or equal).
Pucks FAQS
Q: Can you dim the LED LP3 Puck lights and the DP3 puck lights?
A: Yes.A dimmable supply is now available for the lp3 and also the new DP3 pucks are dimmable aswell . Use the LPCC18-DIM for the LP3pucks. For the DP3 pucks and GMR recessed lights use the 12VDC dimmable power supplies.
