Features:
- These boxes are listed by underwriters laboratories and Canadian Standards Association as type 4
- Neoprene gasket located between cover and box
- Cast metal enclosure means one piece construction, no spot welded seams like those found in formed sheet metal boxes
- Greater mechanical strength
- Thicker walls make them more suitable for drilling and tapping at the factory or in the field
- Cast metal enclosures will provide long life, are inherently corrosion resistant, are able to withstand more mechanical abuse and have the lowest initial cost
- Mounting lugs are provided on all surface mounted boxes, boxes up to 12 x 6 in have two mounting lugs, larger boxes have four mounting lugs, all mounting lugs will be located on the long sides of the box, unless other wise specified
- Raintight boxes are constructed to withstand a beating rain
- Watertight boxes (NEMA Type 4) are constructed to prevent the entry of water under extreme conditions of weather
- Dust-tight boxes are constructed to provide a degree of protection against dust and falling dirt
- Boxes have a post in each corner and allowances must be made for them when conduit entrances are to be located close to a corner
- Wide selection of sizes and locations for drilled and tapped and slip hole conduit entrances
- Hinges are always located on the long side of the box and unless otherwise specified on the right side
- Three rivet anchoring of hinges and bolt/wing nut fasteners
- The hinges are adjusted at the factory for proper gasket pressure but can be readjusted
